The back is of one piece of maple cut on the quarter of medium width flame, descending slightly from left to right. The ribs and scroll are of similar maple. The top is of two pieces of spruce of medium width grain widening slightly at the flanks. The varnish is of red-orange over a golden ground.
Marilyn Wallin has served as the President of the Violin Society of America as well as the Governor of the American Federation of Violin and Bow Makers. A graduate of the Chicago Violinmaking School, Wallin has been awarded two VSA Silver Medals for tone in violin and viola, a VSA Silver Medal for violin workmanship and multiple tone and workmanship certificates for violin, viola, cello, and quartet. Marilyn has taught at the North Bennet Street School, University of New Hampshire, and workshops in Chicago and Oberlin.
