Sibelius, Jean - Violin Concerto in D Minor, Op 47 - Violin and Piano - edited by Francescatti-Gretchaninoff - International Music Company

Jean Sibelius' beloved Violin Concerto in d minor, Op. 47, was initially a flop.  Due to the inability of Sibelius' intended performer to make it to the 1903 premiere in Helsinki, the composer was forced to choose another violinist of lesser ability, who sank the performance.  After that experience, Sibelius decided to revise the concerto before it was made available for publication.  The version that is so often played today is, therefore, the result of his revisions, which was published in 1905, and re-premiered to greater success that same year.

This edition contains the violin solo part and a piano reduction of the orchestral score.  The violin part was edited by Zino Francescatti, and the piano reduction was prepared by Alexandre Gretchaninoff.
