Out of the “Bachs” for Violin and Cello is an “Out of the Box” music project! After the release of Out of the “Bachs” for Two Violins, which includes violin duets for selected movements from Bach’s Unaccompanied Sonatas and Partitas, Martha wondered what a transcription for Violin and Cello would sound like. The end result has been very satisfying, and much was learned along the way! This publication adds more duo opportunities for advanced players to enjoy. You might also enjoy Out of the “Bachs” for Violin and Viola.
Most humbly, it has been a lot of fun for Martha to “guess” what Bach might have been imagining, concerning his harmonies! There aren’t too many possibilities since the music is from the Baroque period. Dynamics are entirely subjective and are added to give players a framework that many performers typically use.
The order and selection of pieces included in Out of the “Bachs” is graded, beginning with the most familiar:
- D Minor: All mvmts., minus the Chaconne
- E Major: All mvmts.
- G Minor: Adagio, Sicilienne and Presto
- B Minor: Courante and Doubles #1-4
